What Is Your Refund and Cancellation Policy?

At Sea San Blas, we understand that plans can change. We offer a structured cancellation policy designed to be fair, while helping us manage logistics in a remote tourism region.

Refund Eligibility

  • (90%) Partial Refund – Cancel any time before 5 days prior to your trip date, by 8:00 PM (Panama time). The maximum refund for early cancellations is 90%, regardless of how far in advance you cancel. A 90% maximum refund applies because local Guna authorities and government agencies charge non-refundable permit and vendor fees once a reservation is confirmed.
  • 50% Refund – Cancel between 2 and 5 days in advance by 8:00 PM
  • No Refund – Cancel less than 2 days in advance by 8:00 PM

Operating within the Guna Yala Comarca (San Blas Islands) requires coordination with multiple local authorities and community vendors. Once a reservation is confirmed, Sea San Blas must immediately pay government and community fees to secure visitor permits, island access rights, and vendor allocations. These payments are non-refundable, even if a booking is later canceled.

For this reason, the maximum refund we can offer for early cancellations is 90%. The remaining 10% helps cover the fixed costs and penalties already incurred with local Guna offices and partner vendors. This ensures we remain compliant with regional tourism regulations and maintain fair relationships with our community partners. This policy allows us to operate responsibly within Guna Yala’s self-governed system and Panama, while continuing to support sustainable tourism and fair compensation for local partners.

All payments are processed securely on our website or via bank transfers/Deposits. We do not accept cash payments.

When Will We Issue a Refund?

Refunds will be issued in the following situations, based on the same refund timeline above:

  • Trip cancellation by Sea San Blas due to weather or operational reasons
  • Evacuation due to medical emergencies or other critical unforeseen events during a trip

When Refunds Are Not Granted

  • Guest leaves the trip early
  • No-show without advance cancellation
  • Unfavorable weather (unless Sea San Blas deems conditions unsafe)
  • Guest misses pickup or isn’t at the scheduled location on time
  • Late cancellations (under 2 days before the trip) without documented extenuating circumstances

In some cases, rescheduling may be offered at no extra cost — especially if you missed pickup unintentionally.

Our Policy in Practice

We apply this policy consistently to protect both our travelers and our local partners. Any exceptions must be backed by credible documentation and are subject to management review.
